ART COOPER

songs that bleed the blues, stories that cut to the bone

Art shares his thoughts on being featured on Australian Idol

Not many musicians auditioning for Australian Idol would be able to say they'd had a front tooth knocked out by a sheep.

But not every singing hopeful works in western Queensland as a rouseabout for a shearing team...

A New Voice

Art Cooper is a rising solo musician and singer-songwriter whose raw authenticity
and distinctive sound are earning him growing attention on the Australian live music circuit.
Recently returned from two years working in shearing sheds across western
Queensland, Art Cooper spent his days on the stands and his nights on stage
playing in outback pubs — soaking up the characters, landscapes and tough humour that now run through the shape of his music.
Those stories, rhythms and expansive reflections have honed a voice that brings
fresh perspectives to an unmistakably Australian sound.
Blending blues, country and folk with a razor-sharp analysis in the style of his diverse punk rock influences, Art Cooper delivers songs and stories that are refreshingly  real — biting observations in a smoky delivery that draws listeners directly into each narrative.
His lived experiences give his writing depth and intelligence; his delivery gives it
heart and soul.
